I feel like my views on the whole Harry Potter book series has slightly changed since I have been rereading them, I know how can my opinions change so quickly – well I am an indecisive person, my favourite colour, food or book changes every couple of months, no joke there! Now it was so hard for me to update you guys on this as I kept thinking – this book doesn’t deserve to be on the last place! So you can see I really didn’t want to place any book last but I had to as that is the whole point of this blog post so don’t feel hurt if I placed your book near the end as I still love it, I promise. So let’s just get into it:
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Still my favourite in the series and I don’t think it will ever change! It is just such a spectacular book that is so fast-paced and so eventful that I always have trouble putting it down, plus we meet so many great characters like Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Sybill Trelawney, Cedric Diggory and Cho Chang. I think why I love it so much is because I am just such a fan when it comes to the Marauders especially Sirius and Lupin – they are the closest thing that come to Harry’s past and remind him that he still has family that were close to the parents that he has lost. Plus I always end up speeding through this instalment as I always want to see the ending in the Shrieking Shack, just pure amazement and I just love everything about this book so lets just stop here as I could go on and on…
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Reading this instalment for the second time I forgot how good it was! For one, this is the book that I started to really sympathise with Draco as what he was forced to do must have been truly horrible for him. The romance between Harry and Ginny was beautifully done, so much better than in the movie, it really made my heart melt! My favourite has got to be when Dumbledore takes Harry with him to retrieve one of the horcruxes, book Dumbledore is the sweetest man ever and just how everything was described I literary could picture it vividly in my mind. Okay, more of the little hints that there was something going on between Hermione and Ron again made my heart melt, it was very nice to see some happiness when the setting was turning quite sinister. I have only praise!!
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
I’ve noticed a lot of people have a problem with how the series end, well to me the final instalment was actually fantastic! Reading it a second time, I found it was beautifully written and so suspenseful that I could not put it down, it truly touched me and it made me feel remorse and happiness and every other feeling you are bound to feel when reading this phenomenal series. I forgot how much Harry grows as a character throughout this whole series and all the other characters, I love the Weasleys so much and Hermione, Lupin, Tonks, Sirius, Dumbledore, Snape and many others. You literary learn so much throughout this instalment and I think after rereading it, it has convinced me why you shouldn’t be afraid of death or fighting for what you believe in as it is all worth it in the end!
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
If you have read my first post on my order of these books you will know that I rated this my least favourite in the whole series but reading it a second time around it I think I appreciated it so much more – so much happens that I forgot about. I loved seeing Harry in the dating scene for the first time and Dumbledore’s Army! Of course Umbridge was as annoying as always but what do you expect from that horrible woman, I also forgot how much other creatures made this series such a lovable series to read – the Centaurs and the Elves, I adore them! It did take me awhile to reread but I still loved it and yeah just phenomenal!
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Let’s start of with that I am such a big Viktor Krum fan after rereading this instalment as I forgot how adorable he is in the book, why did they have to change his character in the movies! You really sympathise with him and all the other characters in this novel, I also ended up picking up all the things that will become significant in the rest of the novels. I loved rereading about the Triwizarding Tournament as I forgot how thrilling and dangerous it is and also how could I forget the Quidditch! I have also enjoyed reading about it as that is basically the only sport that interests me, I find that so funny as it’s not even a real sport! ;D This instalment I used to love watching as the movie but I definitely have enjoyed reading it more this time around and the Yule Ball, LOVED IT!
Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
Even though this is the start to the amazing Harry Potter series, I think I enjoyed the later on instalments more as to me more exciting things happen, not that this instalment was boring! I think my favourite scenes are definitely when Hagrid tells Harry who he truly is, I bet Harry finally felt like he belonged somewhere and felt much more closer with his parents. Also when our magnificent three meet, they are just adorable! Lastly, I adored the part where the first years are on the boats and they see Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the first time ever, actually writing about it right now gives me the chills!! Plus it was great meeting the well-loved characters for the ‘first’ time again as it truly showed me how much I love them.
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
I know in my Goodreads updated review I said that I enjoyed the second instalment much more when I was rereading it but it still I think is my least favourite in the series, and it’s just because there isn’t a lot of Hermione near the end as she got petrified and as she is one of my all-time favourites I just couldn’t deal with it! However as I did read the illustrated edition as soon as 2017 started I noticed how much the Weasley’s are involved in this instalment and also how adorable was Harry when he first saw the Burrow, it literary made me tear up. Also the Valentine’s day chapter was adorable, it gave Ginny a chance to show Harry that she truly likes him as more than a friend and the poem she wrote was just so cute! I really do like Ginny so much more in the novels and I’m so happy that when I visited Warner Bro Studio that I bought her wand as I just adore her.
As you can see, it was really hard rating which book was my favourite and which was my least favourite but I tried! It is bound to change everytime I reread this series but my all time favourite – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban will always be my favourite. I think everyone should do this type of blog post as I would love to see which book is everyone else’s favourite, or if you want to keep it simple do tell me in the comments below. 🙂
