I have been on the biggest decluttering kick for the last couple of months and even though I would have loved to film a book unhaul for you all on my YouTube channel I just did not think that was possible as I keep decluttering as I go. So no, these aren’t all the books I got rid off in one go, I have started to declutter all these books since October/November 2018 time and this list has been compiling ever since. Hope you all enjoy seeing the books I have decided to part ways with and give to a new and better home where they will be much more loved. P.S. Please do not be offended if I get rid of your favourite book, it was either not for me or I have lost interest in it or I enjoyed it while it lasted but now it is our time to part ways.
Let us get into the list!
Onyx & Ivory by Mindee Arnett – I have lost interest in the story and I received this book in a Fairyloot box.
The Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan – this includes all 5 books in the series as to be completely honest with you they were an impulse buy that in the back of my mind I knew I would never have an interest to read, so yes, in a way they were a waste of my money but at least I now have learned from my mistakes (hopefully).
Lucid Dreaming by Charlie Morley – I enjoyed reading this but I knew I would never reference back to it as I don’t feel a particular connection to concept of lucid dreaming at the moment.
Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door, and Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins – I used to adore these books back in 2015 when I first read them but upon my reread of them in 2018 I just realised that I have outgrown them so they are now in a new home.
Wintersong & Shadowsong by S. Jae Jones – I adored Wintersong when I read it back in 2017 however when I started Shadowsong I just found that I could not get into it and that I don’t care for any of the characters. I didn’t have a desire to see where the story would go in Shadowsong and as I couldn’t get into it I just wanted to get rid off both books together as I know I will never reread Winterson.
The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield – It was an okay non-fiction book that I just have no interest in rereading in the future.
Everless by Sara Holland – one of the books that disappointed me a lot as it had so much potential so I decided to get rid of it.
Heart of Thorns by Bree Barton – again another book that I received in a Fairyloot box that I have no interest in reading.
Light is the New Black by Rebecca Campbell – a non-fiction book that I enjoyed reading but I will never go back to.
Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand – a book I would have easily kept on my bookshelf purely on the stunning cover however whenever I looked at the book it would bring back the disappointment I felt towards the second half of the book. Plus, I would rather keep books I love because of the content and not just because it’s pretty to look at.
Percy Jackson Series by Rick Riordan – this again includes all 5 books, as even though I enjoyed them when I read them I will never reread them and they don’t hold a special place in my heart like Harry Potter does.
Tarot by Kim Arnold – I enjoyed it but as I have a tarot card deck that focuses on the four elements – fire, earth, air and water – I just found myself not really reaching for this book after actually reading it for the first time.
The Magicians’ Guild by Trudi Canavan – it was sadly an easily forgettable book that I have no interest in reading again or continuing as the characters and the plot did not interest me enough to continue.
Halfbad, Halfwild and Halflost by Sally Green – I picked these up for a Sally Green signing that ended up getting cancelled the day before and ever since then I just have had no interest in reading any Sally Green books. I know you might think that is harsh and things get cancelled all the time so I’m just going to have to pass up on her books.
The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint-Exupery – I have read this and really enjoyed it but again I don’t think I will ever revisit it as it’s not an all-time favourite.
Chakras by Anodea Judith – really enjoyed this book however again I am not as interested in Chakras as I am with other things like astrology and numerology etc.
The Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan – this is only the first book The Hidden Oracle and as many people told me to read the Heroes of Olympus series before this one, I thought I would just pass up on it as I think I will just never get to it.
Mind Over Matter by Nora Roberts – I am slowly culling my Nora Roberts collection as I even though I adore most of the novels I read by her, I have noticed recently that I don’t ever reach for them to reread them as I have new New Adult Romance novels to read now.
Just One Day & Just One Year by Gayle Forman – I have been meaning to get rid off these for over a year now but I just kept placing them back on my bookshelves for no apparent reason.
Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover – a huge disappointment as I adored the characters but I hate emotional cheating and cheating in general so ultimately I just have to get rid off this book.
Animal Farm by George Orwell – I enjoyed it but I am not the biggest fans of classics and me and George Orwell’s writing did not click.
Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell – I really need to learn from my mistakes as I need to stop buying multiple books by the same author if I have never read anything by them before. Plus, if I ever want to read it I have an ebook on my kindle.
The Smoke Thieves by Sally Green – have no interest in reading.
One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus – I enjoyed it but I have literally no idea why I bought a physical copy as I really never planned on rereading it. Someone, please help me…
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee – I felt obliged to keep this as it is one of those classics pretty much every lawyer or law student reads but I have barely ever picked it up over the last 3 years it has sat on my bookshelf ever since I read it in 2015 so I think it is time for it to go.
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins – Even though I enjoyed this thriller I think I am going to stick with reading thrillers on my kindle as I never plan on rereading them again so I don’t need them on my shelves to sit and gather dust.
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas – Please don’t hate me for this one as even though I loved this book when I read it, I read it all in one day, I just find I never reach for it and I even forget it is on my bookshelves. I really think it is best for me to cull it from my collection and for others to read it and that will give it more love than I am.
Those are all the books I am getting rid off at the current moment or have already gotten rid off. Tell me in the comments below what books you have recently decluttered as I would love to know and look out for part 2 of this soon as I do have more books I plan on getting rid off but I thought I would stop there with the list for now as 41 books are enough for one unhaul.
See you in my next post!
