20 Books That Shaped Me As a Reader

It’s my birthday today so I thought what better blog post and video to post on this special day than sharing the books that have shaped me into the reader that I am today. I was inspired by the lovely Katie from Katie’s Book Nook to do this video as she has recently done one for her birthday. You can check her video out HERE and definitely SUBSCRIBE as she is lovely and her content is the best!
In my video I talked so much about each book that I thought I would just leave that video to speak for why each of the books on this list have shaped me as a reader so I will keep this post short and mostly just leave you with links to each of the books if you would like to check them out yourself!

P.S. I did cheat a little bit and included one additional book but I hope you all don’t mind, it was difficult enough to put this list together but I tried so let’s just get into it.

1. Kaspar: Prince of Cats by Michael Morpurgo

Childhood favourite

2. The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank

Powerful childhood read

3. Marked by P.C. Cast & Kristin Cast

10. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin

I can read big political fantasies and I am a Stark girl for life

11. The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

I don’t need an action-packed book, I love reading about character growth and politics, no need for romance in fantasies

My favourite classic romance story

13. Winter by Marissa Meyer

Made me fall in love with sci-fi and proved I can read big books in three days whilst also juggling life

16. Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman

Made me realize that I should give low rated books a chance as they might become new favourites

18. Caraval by Stephanie Garber

A surprise that has impacted my life immensely, it’s been with me since the start of Bookish Vegan on YouTube

19. Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

I don’t need a romance in a brutal and action-packed book

20. The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson

I LOVE POLITICAL BOOKS, plus Vin and someone else are adorable with how you can tell they love each other by just being around each other, no PDA

21. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

Reread more of your favourite books, also you are a very proud Hufflepuff ;D

Hope you all enjoyed this blog post!
